1. Who we are
StudyExam is an online practice site for Sri Lankan students. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and your rights under the Personal Data Protection Act No. 9 of 2022 of Sri Lanka.
2. What we collect
- Account details: name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash), and if you choose, photo, grade, school, district, medium, phone number, birthday and a short "about me".
- Learning data: the answers you choose, marks, time taken and the date of each paper and lab activity.
- Groups: the class and study groups you join, and invitations sent to your email.
- Payments: plan, amount, date and payment status. Card payments are handled by PayHere; we never see or store your card number. Bank transfer slips you upload are kept to confirm the payment.
- Security data: IP address, login times and failed login attempts, to protect accounts.

3. How we use it
- To run your account, mark your papers and show your results and statistics.
- To send emails you asked for: login codes, mark sheets, group invitations and receipts. You can turn off mark sheet emails in Account settings.
- To show your marks to the teacher of a class group you joined, and your mark and time to members of a group's ranking. Only papers done after you joined the group are shared.
- If you add a teacher's email, we send your mark sheets to that address.
- To keep the site secure and to fix problems.
4. Cookies and ads
We use one cookie to keep you logged in, and your browser remembers your text size and unsent answers. Free accounts may see ads from Google AdSense, which can use cookies to show ads. You can control ad personalisation at Google Ad Settings. ප්රිමියම් සාමාජිකයන්ට දැන්වීම් නොපෙන්වයි.
5. Sign in with Google
If you use Google sign-in we receive your name, email address and profile photo from Google. We do not get your Google password.
6. Children
Many of our users are school students. If you are under 16, ask a parent or guardian before creating an account. Parents can ask us to see or delete their child's data.
7. How long we keep data
We keep your account and marks while your account is open. Security logs are kept for up to 12 months. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except payment records we must keep by law.
8. Your rights
You can see and correct your details in Account settings. You can ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to delete your account, by writing to the සම්බන්ධතා පිටුව.
9. Security
Passwords are hashed, admin and teacher logins use email codes, and the site uses HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, so use a strong password that you do not use elsewhere.

If we change this policy we will update this page and the date below.
